Panthers general manager Dale Tallon confirmed that the Panthers are preparing to host Pittsburgh in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, the team announced on Wednesday.
The Panthers, who lost Game 7 to the Pittsburgh Penguins, will face off against the Penguins in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Panthers will be playing at PPG Paints Arena for the first time since they hosted the New York Rangers on Jan. 25, 2006, and have won three Stanley Cups in the process.
The last Panthers game at PPL Arena was a 4-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 5 of the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals.
The Penguins won Game 1 by a 3-2 score in Game 2 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Pittsburgh is the only Eastern Conference team without a Stanley Cup Playoff appearance in the last 20 years.
The Pens have won two Stanley Cups since the 2008 season, when the Panthers were eliminated in the first round by the Detroit Wings.
